On 27 and\n28 June 2019, around 30 participants from seven Central and Eastern European\ncountries met in Leipzig for the launch of the EU funded EfficienCE project\ncoordinated by the Digital City Unit Leipzig. Together with the Office for\nGeoinformation & Land Management and the LVB (public transport company),\nthe Digital City Unit is developing applications for more energy-efficient\npublic transport planning in connection with the development of an urban data\nplatform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the\nmeeting, the project partners from Vienna (A), Gdynia (PL), Maribor (SI),\nBergamo (IT), Plzen (CZ) and Budapest (HU) discussed their different project\napproaches. In addition to the application of data-based planning, the projects\naim to increase the use of renewable energies in the public transport sector, especially\nin the field of e-mobility, and to develop a job and training profile for\nenergy-managers in public transport companies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

EfficienCE declaration <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You are kindly\ninvited to show the commitment of your organisation towards energy efficiency\nand renewable energy in public transport by signing the EfficienCE declaration,\nwhich you can download here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It doesn\u2019t matter\nif you belong to a public authority, public transport company, education\ninstitution or NGO:  we all have to join\nforces to increase energy efficiency by various measures in our public\ntransport infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So by signing the\nEfficienCE Declaration you will be signaling your commitment to embrace its\nobjectives by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Introducing and advocating the improvement of energy efficiency and the increase of the use of renewable energy in public transport;<\/li>
  2. Participating in capacity building through joining EfficienCE events and\/or making use of the guides, tools and handbooks developed within the project;<\/li>
  3. And thus contributing to EfficienCE\u2019s aim to reduce CO2 emissions in the transport sector.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
