{"id":4619,"date":"2020-01-29T08:14:35","date_gmt":"2020-01-29T07:14:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/websites.fraunhofer.de\/digitalakademie-bw\/?p=4619"},"modified":"2020-01-30T07:55:35","modified_gmt":"2020-01-30T06:55:35","slug":"summary-of-follower-city-leipzig","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/triangulum-project.eu\/?p=4619","title":{"rendered":"Summary of Follower City Leipzig"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Main impact of Triangulum in Leipzig<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the duration of the Triangulum project and the resulting knowledge\nexchange with the three Lighthouse Cities, it became clear that Leipzig needs\nto reorganise its internal working structures regarding Smart City and\ndigitization issues. Starting in spring 2018, a dialogue has been initiated between\nthe Department for General Services, the Department for Economic Affairs and\nEmployment, the Mayor\u2019s Office and the Triangulum team to develop a new\nadministrative structure for digitization issues within the City of Leipzig. As\na result, a \u201cDigital City Unit\u201d was installed in the Department for Economy and\nLabour in April 2019, which was then renamed to \u201cthe Department for Economy,\nLabour and Digital Affairs\u201d accordingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u201cDigital City Unit\u201d started its work in April\n2019. An entire team now works on developing guidelines, drafting projects, creating\ndifferent committees and networks within and outside the municipality as well\nas other topics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new Digital City Unit is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>A competence\ncentre for digitization within and for the city administration as well as\nexternal actors such as enterprises, civil society and science, <\/li><li>responsible for\nthe development and implementation of innovation projects with the help of\nmunicipal budget but also financed by the EU and national funding (incl.\ndevelopment of funding proposal and grant management),<\/li><li>an internal service\nprovider for the city administration offering advice and support regarding\nfunding opportunities and grant management,<\/li><li>representing the\nCity of Leipzig on national and international events and networks (e.g. German\nSmart City Network, EIP-SCC events),<\/li><li>an interface\nfunction between the municipality and its subsidiaries (public utilities and\nother enterprises).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The participation process with\nits three different formats established within Triangulum (Future Forum, Future\nExpert Lab and local citizen engagement) contributed strongly to the acceptance\nand the understanding of smart city processes within the City of Leipzig.\nFurthermore, the context of these events was used to seek support from relevant\nstakeholders such as the city\u2019s utilities company for some of the project\nideas. It is planned to continue the Future Forum after the Triangulum project\nhas finished. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The City of Leipzig is on its way to becoming a Smart City. The Triangulum project had a very relevant impact on the propulsion of the topic within the city\u2019s municipality and among Leipzig\u2019s citizens. Along the way and with the help of an extensive participation process, relevant stakeholders from industry and science could be involved in the development of new solutions, which form the basis of Leipzig\u2019s implementation strategy.
